What do you think of these school rules?
Sometimes students don't know what appropriate attire is and if their parents are not monitoring what they are wearing, the school should since a student spends the majority of their childhood there. Some types of dress can be very distracting when a teacher is trying to teach. It can be distracting to the teacher as well as the students. At the grade school I teach at the boys are not allowed to have their shirt outside of their pants. They are to be tucked in at all times. They cannot wear nets or a bandana on their heads and if they wear a hat, they must remove it when entering a classroom. Tattoos can be a symbol of a certain gang so it is better not to have a tattoo when you are in school. Certain types of dress has also been related to gang membership. A person might unknowingly wear something they think is cool but then later on discover it has reference to a specific gang. Short clothing and skimpy tops can result in a child being exposed to sexual harassment by other students. It can also result in jealousy and fights. There is a reason for a school policies and most of the time if you ask why they are in force, the reasoning behind it will be simply to protect the students.
