Are acer xk irons good?

i am 13 and a begginer at golf , and am looking for my first set of clubs :) , i can drive 200-250 straight , and hit my 5 iron near 200 , 7 iron 180 and 9 iron 150. i was thinking about the accer xk irons sinse they seem good value for money? but my dad wont let me get a accer driver or any other unknown brand driver as they make a horrible tinny noise instead of a ping :) , so he is giving me his taylormade steel 200 5 wood :D which i can hit further, straighter and more consistantly than a driver. so... Q1. what is the difference between the big names and the 'clone' clubs? and Q2. do i need a driver and why? all answers much appreciated thanks.
