Do i do muscle or fat?

it seems impossible to lose fat as well as muscle so can i just do one then the other after...for example do weight with a little cardio now(16 years old) then in say a year do more cardio. just bulk up for the moment the burn the fat later on? I train 5-6 times a week usually with a 15 minutes med-high intense exercise on the cross trainer.
